Our Grand Story Teller

I think one of the things that I love most about being a parent is watching a little one come into their own in the language department. Maybe it's the teacher in me! From Joshua's first little coos, to words, to phrases and sentences, each little thing amazes me with a child's development. At 2 months shy of three, our little guy is quite the talker! Dinner time is filled with lots of good conversation and thoughts, and yes, he does have many that he desires to share! I thought I'd share some of the little gems from the last few days that either melted our hearts a bit or had us in stitches.
  • After lunch, he announced he was going to the living room to play. I asked if I could come to which he said no. "Why can't Mommy come play too?" His response, "I'm going to the living room to play by myself because I love me!".
  • We have started the battle of bed time again and have tried to fix it a bit by focusing on all of the happy thoughts we can think of as we fall asleep. The other night he said, "I will think about hot air balloons, swimming pools, Mommy and Daddy. Think about bees. No, I not going to think about bees. Bees stress me out!":)
  • On the same bed time thing, his list from last Thursday was a sweet one. Art had been on the road since 4 am Sunday morning and we were really missing Daddy. "I try to think about pools, balloons.....And when my Daddy comes home..." Made me want to tear up a bit. He misses his best buddy when Dad's away!
  • We are trying to avoid buying another stroller with new baby, especially one for two, so that means we are really working on training J to walk by us or hold onto the cart. After an unnerving Costco trip, we tried to talk again about "Stranger Danger". Art said, "Someone could take you if you don't stand by us!" His response, "Well the problem is, I could run away though." He thinks his speed is much greater than we do I suppose!
  • While driving home, he asked what getting in a wreck meant. After we explained, he said, "Well I could just get the blue vacuum and clean up the glass then get the car a band-aid, some honey (we use this for a cough), and some Vicks and it would be better!"
  • And the sweetest.....You always wonder what little ones see that we don't:). He told us out of nowhere the other day that while he was at Church last week he got to talk to Jesus. I asked what he and Jesus talked about. He said, "Jesus told me I am a very good boy." We agreed with Jesus. And then he said, "And Baby Pink was with Jesus too. But Baby Pink did not get to talk with us." :) Mom said I should have asked if Pink was a boy or girl! Haha!
And here's another reason we are proud of our son...His new bath time toy....
