Life Lessons

Top things we have learned in the last couple of weeks as parents
  1. Lipstick does not come off of walls easily.
  2. Just because it is fun to play "pretend vacuum" with your toys does not mean that the real vacuum is not ridiculously scary still.
  3. Long car rides are more enjoyable when taken at nap time versus 5 pm....dinner time.
  4. Time outs work even for 15 month olds!!! We have almost cured the biting and throwing food phase! Yippee! But, we do notice, like anything else in a little one's life, babies are only mad about being in time out for about thirty seconds. Then the curtain, a speck of dirt, the feel of the pack 'n' play's (aka time out area) mattress is a quick diversion from whatever prior thought you were just having.
  5. Our dog, Masey, is a saint. I know because I would have bitten my child a long time ago if my tail had been stepped on, fur pinched, had sippy cups chucked at my head, or balls thrown at me to only then be laughed at my reaction as much as she has.
  6. Pool time= Lots of new friends!
  7. Three year olds don't carry one year olds so well.
  8. Trying to get two kids under the age of two to take a decent picture is not humanly possible. God bless professional photographers!!!
  9. Ducks are hilarious to chase...especially when you are their size.
  10. Just because we are not really Lady Gaga fans does not mean that she will, without fail, bring a one year old to smile and break into a ridiculous dance...no poker faces here, just dance.
  11. Even one year olds can get crushes.....Joshua+Taylor Swift= True Love. He thinks she is beautiful and "Love Story" always sends him to a far off place of bliss!
  12. It's ridiculous to assume we can go out to eat and have it be an enjoyable experience any more.
  13. It is possible for your child to ruin your third phone of the year. This time the spot was Antioch Park's lovely lake. Should I have learned my lesson by now????!!!!
  14. There is no way to describe how much love you have for your child. It truly is the best feeling in the world:).
***Oh, and #15, even though you hear it all the time, don't open up suspicious looking documents, even if they are from friends. My computer is in the shop due to this error. Lesson learned...no pictures this time around folks until I get it back! Boo!***
