Rocky Mountain High! Part II

So to wrap up our trip, the rest of the pictures!

Family picture on top of the gondola in Vail
Art channeling the Sound of Music with Sadie in Vail. This shot was not planned, I just caught him in the moment....so Art!!

Love this picture of Mom and Dad in Vail

Okay, so where do I begin with this picture! A good laugh would be fitting as well as a chill since this rock represents the loss of political Art with my family! We last went to Colorado about 5 years ago. The rock that Steven and I are seated upon has slowly receded deeper into Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. When I was little, you were able to climb it from dry land and provided many beautiful family shots. Well, over the years, water has taken over and made it difficult to share such shots.

Five years ago, Dad, Steven and I jumped from smaller rocks out in the water to get to this big one. Side note- Those that have ever played a game with Art and I on opposing teams know how competitive we are with one another and that a "fun" evening can end in a long silent drive home for the Milnes' with icy stares from the loser and a gleaming smile from the winner. I'm not proud of it, but hey. It's who we are. With that being said, if I jumped out there, Art had to try. What came next was the slowest sinking into a downward straddle...on a rock... into the lake water.... by my sweet husband, one step short of the big boulder. I have never felt so bad for him, but it really was like something you would see in a movie so I had to laugh! It truly was America's Funniest Videos worthy. I have NEVER seen him MORE mad and hope I never will again!! And as he said, that was the point when political Art died with my family! The part that stunk the most about it was we were only half way through our hike so the melody of "squish, squash" sounded from his shoes the rest of the walk around the lake.

When he had cooled down a bit, at the next destination, he decided to air dry his socks by tying them to the top of my parents van. Fast forward to the present, no one has had the heart to remove the final sock from the van until this trip. It is tattered and torn, but represents a "special" moment in our history. It was only fitting that the sock be put to rest at it's point of origin before my parents sell the van while we were on the trip. Art held the remains before burial as Steven and I get our one final laugh....from the rock....that we managed to jump out to again successfully! This time it entailed us walking a small branch between rocks...it truly is amazing that we didn't go down! Wish the picture captured this amazing event better. LOL!

After finishing his first ride on bumper cars, Joshua headed out for his first ride on bumper boats. This is prior to the splash fest.

Aunt Lyndsey and Sadie spraying those brave enough to ride the bumper boats:)

Had to drive by 4414 Apple Way in Boulder...our old casa! Each time we visit it looks more and more different! They've added so much to our former little house:(
