Happy birthday to our FAVORITE boy!!

Joshua had his three year appointment last week. He's in the 90% for height and went up in weight from 60% to 90%...yep, you can tell we have had the end of a pregnancy, Christmas, and lots of yummy food drop offs lately! Boot camp detox promptly started as we left the doctor's office!
We are working on behavior right now. From what I understand, most parents would agree with us on this. Terrible twos, hahahaha!! WHATEVER!! Three year olds are little sinners working out their salvation even more than teenagers! After acknowledging that we had our hands full, Dr. Tyson, said that we should use a certain language with him that states the behavior we want to see, for example, "I see a boy that needs to use an inside voice."
So I, being the proactive parent, tried to use it at lunch that day ready to battle. He struggles with staying in his chair. Half way through the meal he starts to hop down and run over to his riding toy, Lightening McQueen. I promptly say, "I see a boy that needs to sit in his chair!" Full well knowing that this is not going to immediately solve the problem, but maybe if it is repeated a couple of times he will return to the right choice. I was not prepared for his "oh really Mom, that's all you've got???" response. He stops in his tracks, looks right and me and says, "Well I see a boy that needs to go play with Lightning McQueen." Touche' son, touche'!!
For his birthday breakfast, he chose Gerber oatmeal with honey. I had to take a picture because I thought that was a pretty random birthday breakfast choice, but hey, it is his day!

Grandpa Cal and Grandma Katy send him a sweet Tony Romo jersey...his first Cowboys jersey!

Daddy and Mommy surprised him with a train table!

Our birthday dinner tradition is to go to T-Rex restaurant at the Legends. We love seeing him grow each year. This year though, he thought it really was adorable to see his reaction to it! He went nuts!

Pavlov's Dog....He spots the singing wait staff headed his way with ice cream!

For Joshua's birthday party, we decided to keep it low key and checked into the Residence Inn Saturday night for swimming, Chinese food (his request), and a slumber party. This is a bonus that helps make Art's traveling easier....bonus points at hotels and airlines:). It was so much fun, not to mention, we got to sleep in FINALLY because he was in bed with Daddy:). Hello eight am wakup! Sweet! Hard to believe that eight is sleeping in these days, but wow, did it feel GREAT! We are tempted to do it once a month to have such a breather! Thomas birthday cake...this is actually the only gift he asked for...a Thomas cake! We had asked him for months what he wanted for his birthday and all he would say was a Thomas cake. Love his simple mind! Mimi and Mommy nailed it without having to buy the crazy $70 one from the store! Thanks YouTube!!
